Greatwood Golf Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Sugar Land, Texas.
Greatwood Golf Club golf course opened in 1989. The course was designed by Carlton Gipson.
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,836 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,220 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 18, a par-5 that plays to 576 yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides. The shortest hole on the course is # 15, a par-3 that plays to 153 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 5, a 434 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. The easiest hole at Greatwood Golf Club is # 15, the 153 yard par-3.

Course is in good condition. Driving range grass needs help. Better than a muni with muni prices. Be careful if you spray shots. OB and Homes line the course.

This course is real sensitive to rainfall conditions. When it gets dry, it deteriorates pretty quickly. Tee boxes in particular scorch and then the fairways. They have made recent improvements to all the lakes on the course to hold more water for irrigation. It has been rainy lately so the course is in great shape! Tight fairways due to the residential nature. Greens of average difficulty. Rounds can get slow on busy days.

Lots of water and sand. Challenging layout, greens in good shape. Pace of play was excellent. Look for deals on line on places like dealcaddy@golfnow.com. I got a great 2 for $50 price.
